Ok, i'll start from the beginning. I have just received a couple of Noritake GU256x64D LCD screens, but unfortunately i don't have any of the necessary cables/batterys etc.. This is the best resource for these LCD screens and programming that i have found, lots of information and good program! So i guess my question is: where can i get the necessary cables to hook it up to my computer, and the batterys to power it?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, i am new to this whole LCD programming scene, so please bear with me as i am somewhat of a beginner to this whole thing.

Oh, and i am sorry if this is the wrong forum for this sort of thing, if it is please move it to the correct one.

First you should probably check the full display model you have. Noritake has several different kind GU256x64 series that use different incompatible interfaces.

To connect the display to parallel port people usually build the cables themself. You can find some schematics here. But before rushing into building any kind cable you should check your exact display model and if any of the schematics offered there match your display.

For power most Noritake VFD's use normal 5V DC power. The current requirement can be about 1A so taking it from USB for example isn't usually an option so you need to take the power either from the PC or external power supply.

Some have also used the Noritake USB interface boards for connecting their displays. This option has some advantages like you just need to connect the interface board to your display and connect it to USB port of your PC and then configure the software.
