Post subject:  IC PROBLEMS!!!

Hi, again!
I have a lousy problem with my IC (dm7445n, right)... it only has 16 connectors 8O 8 in each side!
Cheking the DarkElf's pic, I realize that I can't connect some cables.
Can anybody explain +/- what can I do with this???? :?

DM7445N seems to be a "BCD-to-Decimal Decoder". What you need is a "Low Voltage Bidirectional Transceiver with 5V Tolerant Inputs" eg. 74LCX245 or 74LVC245.
I don't know why in DarkElf's picture the IC is marked as 7445 instead of 74xx245. 74LCX245 and 74LVC245 are 20 pin ICs that you can usually find in a SOIC package. For description of the circuit and datasheet links for the ICs you can check the first page.

I've connected my nokia lcd in the wrong way :(
I pluged it the wrong side so pin 1 at pin 8, pin 2 at pin 7 and so on...

It doesn't seem to work anymore. do you think it is broken or the problem could be somewhere else :?:

[EDIT] ok no problem it's working now

Here is some data for 128x128 controllers used in Nokia color displays:
http://www.hantronix.com/down/S1D15G00_REV1_0.pdf
http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/p ... 2DA_1.html
There are two different display types that look almost same but have different controllers. I have one of each but as I wrote earlier I haven't yet started working on those.

LOL, you too eh :D

Anyways, I'm trying to get the Philips version to work. I do have the Epson version aswell, but there seem to be much problems with it when it comes to different voltages and the display contrast.
Besides that, the Epson one has no easy to solder contacts, the Philips one does.
Also documentation is a little at the sucking side for the Epson, which is another reason I'm trying to avoid it. The Philips version has a very nice datasheet, so this one is not a problem :)

Might be a good idea to start a new topic about this to keep the b/w talk separated from the colour discussion.

Jep, me too :D

I was also planning to start with the Philips and later with the Epson. You pretty much just said the reasons for going with Philips. ;)

I just made a new topic where all further color lcd discussion can be directed: http://www.skippari.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=586

Hello!
I ll be inspired by connect display 3310 to lpt, i go to IC shop and ask for display 3310,i bought somemthin like that

i ll made schematic with "74 soic 245 3.3v tolerant to 5v"
and connect all to lpt.
So wheres on this display pin 1 ? What is it , like ???PIN9???
What is REAL name of this display {for 3310?made in china?}
If i power this lcd by 3.3 v and not connect all other pins : then lcd show somethin for i KNOW : i connect other pins and its work?

What software support this lcd-lpt?

For the pin positions check this post:
http://www.skippari.net/phpBB2/viewtopi ... =2527#2527

I don't know what's the real name or model for this display. It's some custom display made for Nokia specifically.

I don't think you can see anything on the display until it's properly initialized.

LCDInfo 0.6 supports this display using the connection from the first page of this thread.

I don't know what is the controller in 6310 or 6210 but it could be something similar to PCD8544. What is the screen resolution in these displays ?

3410 for example has a 96x65 screen that works with the same interface and commands.
