I just had a look at the winamp 2 and 3 SDK's and think that I got the general idea how I could implement support for the visualization and other data (by writing a plugin / component for them). Which one would you like to see supported ? |

I think WinAmp3. Most people will update to v3 soon enough. And people are making more and more plugins for v3. So my vote goes to 3. ![]() |

I don't like winamp3, I think it responds much slower etc however Marty could be right, probably sooner or later everyone will use winamp3... I think there's a plugin for winamp3 to support winamp2 plugins, heard that somewhere. I guess if I were you I'd program it for winamp3 although I prefer 2 ![]() |

winamp 3 is the way to go, as winamp 2 will be dead soon enough ... |

Today I just couldn't resist the temptation to try how the winamp3 <-> external program interaction would work. ![]() Getting the winamp component and external program share some data was much easier than I thought. Much harder part is trying to figure out the Wasabi SDK but I'm slowly getting familiar with it. ![]() What I have now done is a component that shares some data from the winamp and a small app that shows the VU meters for left and right channel. I don't think the winamp2 plugin should be much harder to make. |

The Winamp2 Plugin is also very easy. But the problem ist the speed. I had a analyzer in my software an the cpu utilization was relativly high if u want a fast analyzer. If u want, i have a winamp2-plugin that shares all the data u need. |

That's true. I'm aware of the possible speed problems but the user can always make the choice. ![]() Also the good thing about the component is that using it it's possible to retrieve the song info. Sure, I'd like to see your plugin. Always helps if I don't have to do it myself. ![]() |
