I have v0.3.2 working (using Win98) except the problem is it accesses the Internet when launched.

My firewall warns me LCDInfo program is trying to access Internet.

I have disabled any thing that would use Internet (i.e. E-mail). And have loaded fresh files.

Anyone having this issue?

You have already started a thread about this before http://www.skippari.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=160

If you are worried about it the you can look at the source code.

Why don't you try and find out what ip address it is trying to access? That might tell you what information LCDInfo is trying get.

Like Marty said, knowing the IP address it's trying to access could really give some hints what's going on there.

Marty,

You sound like you know about programming so maybe you can give me some pointers about the LCD program.

Thanks in advance.

Does the firewall tell where LCDInfo tries to connect ?

Which firewall are you using ?

wlamot23,

I know very little about c code. And people like Henri know much more. I have been using LCDInfo for a long time. I have a firewall, router and use antivirus and spyware checking software. I have no security problems with LCDInfo.

If you are worried then don't use it. Simple.

But you could use a little common sense and look at your firewall logs and see what IP address it is trying to access. That way we can try and help you with your problem.

What firewall software are you using? Can you post the part of the log that refers to LCDInfo?

Marty.

Thanks for the replies,

I have the McAfee Firewall v4.00.5 which is alerting me that LCDInfo is tring to access the Internet.

If I allow it to connect there is no log of the outgoing connection.

If I refuse to let it connect I get a critical warning message box which says:

LCDInfo
10093:Successfull WSAStartup not yet performed.

Wayne.

I'm not sure what this is as I don't remember seeing it before. Does LCDInfo still run ok after the message box or shut down ?

Maybe it would be possible to set the firewall settings so that it would report where LCDInfo is trying to make contact ?

Henri,

If I cancel out the application will not run again and it will go straight to the same warning message. I have to reboot to run it again(and at firewall select okay to access internet).

I will try to find out more if possible from my router logs but last time I found nothing. Or if there is another way to find out, please let me know.

Thanks.

One possibility might be that it's just initializing the network components in LCDInfo and isn't really connecting anywhere but somehow the firewall detects this. This is just guessing.
