 Post subject: Blank rows... (Problem)

Henri, maybe you can help me? I've got the crystalfontz graphical display from the tweakers.net action, but it's not working fine with any software. This is the problem: This is how it looks on screen: Image
and this is how it looks on the display:

It looks like every second row is a blank one. Have you ever seen this before? I've tested the wiring, and i've also tried liquidmp3, but that won't work either.

At first I recommend reading this: http://www.skippari.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=181

What kind wiring do you have ? How long ? What material ?

I used a male to female cable, the kind you use to connect a scanner. I think it's standard 1,8 m long. Could that be the problem? That the wiring is to long? Offcourse my lpt is already set on ecp/epp.

Depending of the cable 1.8m might be too long. I usually use 1m long cables and haven't had any problems. I've also used 2m long cable but I've always used flat cable so I'm not sure if there's any difference. You could try with a shorter cable.

It is recommended to make the parallel cables as short as possible to prevent interference and other signal quality problems. In the Noritake 800 parallel VFD displays datasheet the recommended cable length was 30 cm max so this may give some idea what the manufacturers recommend. But as I said I've used 2m long cables without problems but it's better try to keep the cables short.
