Hello ... :-)

It seems that this LCD needs an controller like an SED1335 ...
You ca buy such controller ready made for 40 - 50 Euro in germany ...
Sometimes ago I find some in eBay ...
But long reply, short message ...:
An LCD ready made with controller (e.g. t6963c) + backlight (maybe inverted) can buyed much cheaper in most cases (eBay maybe) and you got no problems to connect it ...
Its up to you ...

good luck

Claus

No, that lcd in the datasheet doesn't look like it would need external controller. From the pinout I'd think it has either KS0108 or HD61203 controllers which are compatible.

The pinout seems to match this one:

Do you have the contrast working in the display ?

Have you tried with different motherboard / pc ?

I have usually used the ECP/EPP setting in the bios. But to be honest it has worked just as well using SPP or any other mode for me. LPT port settings have never caused problems for me.
But there have been many reports that they can have big effect of how your display works. I recommend testing them all to see which works best.

You mention this full line at boot. Is it one pixel high vertical line that goes from the side of display to the other side ? Or some something else ?

And to confirm this - your contrast is working fine and you can adjust it ?

yes it's one pixel high and a full line from left to the right.

but when i use another mode i think spp i have at boot a full screen
when i use ecp i have an half screen.

my contrast only works when i get something on my screen.

Hmm, I think I have seen that one pixel high vertical line with T6963C controllers but not with KS0108 / compatible.

Are you sure your display has the KS0108 or compatible chipset and that datasheet is the exact one for your module ?

That controller should work be KS0108 compatible so it should work with programs having support for KS0108.

But this doesn't really give other new ideas to me other than just again rechecking your wiring and other things that might have any effect here.
