howdy all, my first post but hopefully with something fun. at a local electronics surplus store i found about 2 dozen futaba vfd displays. the model number is na202sd16aa4-000 futaba just goes off of na202sd16. here is a link to futaba's info on it http://www.futaba.com/products/display_ ... /vfd03.asp

now comes the part i might get yelled at for. i'm pretty new to vfd's and lcd's. i've read a lot of the posts on the vfd's but still have a few questions. this vfd has both a serial and a parallel interface, which one would be easier. i would prefer to use the serial interface mostly because my parallel interface is in use. is there an application out there already that has a driver for this display? any other info or readings would be appreciated.

The Futaba site is saying that the display should be HD44780 compatible in parallel mode. So if wiring it for parallel mode there should be plenty of software that supports HD44780. I don't know if there's software that would support it in serial mode.
