Should work with LCDinfo. Info, driver and wiring-schematic here; http://forum.lcdinfo.com/viewtopic.php?t=637 and Powertip's datasheet here, pick any of the 122x32, i think (please look for yourself) they're all the same pin layout. |

Thanks... I found that the file for wiring is damaged, and I can´t find it anywere... here is the link so you can check that the file is damaged... http://www.megspace.com/arts/jsc69/imag ... wiring.txt Is a TXT file, and only giberish apear... thanks for any help. Found this page it has de schematic http://www.majer.ch/lcd/ |

Found this page it has de schematic http://www.majer.ch/lcd/ Hi, as Cossie said it's a jpeg not a txt file. It's a dirty trick, because the provider does not allow to link to images . But the Internet Explorer and other browser (but not all) will open it as image. The schematic on http://www.majer.ch/lcd/ is for a display with other interface. The most diffence is, that this lcd needs an extern clock signal. So this one will not work with LCDInfo by now. But i'm working on it. |

Ok I understand...i`ve opened the schematic and seen it but I don´t understand 3 general things... 1. At the top of the drawing, there are some filter capacitors on JP1, JP1 is a normal 5V line ? what are capacitors for if i use the 5V line on my pc`s power supply. 2. At the bottom there is a second circuit, I have searched for ILC7550PA and found nothing about it, what is it? what does it do? and is the name for this component ok? is there a replacement? 3. Does the schematic con http://www.majer.ch/lcd/ work on parallel port ok?, if LCDinfo does not support it because of the timming module, does anyone know any software that does support it? thankx! |

1. The capacitors are there for decoupling, and just general supply filtering. You can probably leave them out if you want to. Better to have them if they aren't going to be a problem for you to add. 2. It's a 555 Timer chip, alot of manufacturers make equivelants, and if you asked at your local electronics supply shop for a "Triple 5 timer IC" They would more than likely have it... If they don't, then you need to find a better electronic hobbist store. 3. See Here for more information on getting this display working... |

The clock generator (555) is set to what frecuency? I have read the whole forum you sent, and I see that the only problem is that the external clock is not yet supported by LCDinfo. What is te diference betweeen the schematic i found here and the one found in http://www.majer.ch/lcd/? except for extra filtering the 5V line. What diference does it make that Oscilator on schematic here is conected to VEE, and in the other schematic output from 555 is conected to CL? I`m just getting the hang of this... |

Stop, stop, stop.... the IC in my schematics is a ILC7660PA and not a ILC7550PA. It's a voltage converter and not a timer like the NE555. Sorry for the bad quality of the image The original schematics can be found here: http://www.usblcd.de/lcdproc/sed1520-dip.php4 |

Another thing, can the BS170 be replaced with a simple N transistor (2N3904)? will try to get the bs170, but may have same luck than with the 7660... If i use the other schematic with the 555 clock generator, would I have the same problem than Syridian? a 2 pixel wide line in the middle? or the LCD won´t work with LCDinfo? Thanks... |

First, what schematic you have to use, depends of the type of display you had. Is it one with an internal clock (with 18 pins), use my schematic (not the one on the posted webside. The wiring changed a little bit). Is it one which needs a clock signal from outside (with 20 pins), use the schematic from www.majer.ch. But the 20 pin thing is not supported properly by LcdInfo and you will get the same problems like Syridian. I try to fix it asap. The negative voltage is needed for the background light (about -4V). There maybe replacements, no idea. My knowledge in electronic is not that good. Sorry... |

LCD that I will use is a powertip PG12232A hope the pictures apear... It has 20pin conection. pin number 7 is external clock input, so I think I have to conect it with the schematic found on www.majer.ch http://www.laneros.com/attachment.php?a ... ntid=12425 http://www.laneros.com/attachment.php?a ... ntid=12426 I got the 7660 and the bs170 at the electronics shop...not very easy but got them...I have components to make either one of the schematics... thanks |

ok made the other website schematic since mine is a 20pin LCD... some questions 1. does the LCd have to make any graphic test to assure that it is working well? like character lcd when powered properly it turns on the first line, or at least that what happened to my 16x2... 2 what parallel port mode shouldbe enabled to make the LCD work? EPP, ECP normal? 3. How do I install the driver...sounds silly but have tried everything I could think of and still can`t get LCDinfo to let me configure any driver, because any apear.. 4. Does my 20 pin LCd has to have the RW pin grounded? on the other schematic it is set to pin 1 of parallel port. Need the help asap... thanks |

There won't be anything to let you know the graphic LCD is working other than it correctly displaying data sent to it. From what I have seen in the forums... While the LPT setting does make a differance, it seems to be differant for the system that is connected. My personal opinion is, set it to SPP or Standard to start with... and change it if you need to. To select the driver, run LCDinfo, right click on the icon in the system tray, click select driver, select the driver you want from the pull down list. Then Ok out of that screen... LCDinfo will tell you that you have to restart the program for it to work. Hmmm the R/W pin... a weird one that... Technically speaking as you are only needing to Write data to the display, tieing that pin low would be the best option. However some drivers might make use of the read function to check the status of the LCD, and these would require it to be connected to a pin... Thats really a question for the programmer, jsc69. Hmmm Missed a few posts there also.... Gimme a bit of time to check the Powertip datasheet. There might be some issues with diffeant displays causing confusion here.... |

LCD seems to get hot at the back is it normal to feel it hot? the only thing i changed from the schematic at http://www.majer.ch/lcd/?, is that on my display CS1 is on pin 5 (CS2 on schematic), and CS2 on pin 6 (CS1 on schematic) The only thing I changed is the 10K trimmer for contrast, i changed t with a 20K since I could not find a 10k, but don`t think this would matter |
