Post subject:  Guidance on SONY ACX705AKM purchase

I was thinking of purchasing one of these color displays (SONY ACX705AKM). They are selling cheap and are color. Tho I know LCDInfo has no driver for this gLCD, I do know some of you out there are experimenters and might be able to give me some guidance/advice...or even if it is worth the hassle.
Here is a link to the spec sheet.

Well what do you want to use it for? It'll need a new kind of controller and also software needs to be written for it.
A higher SED or FPGA should be able to drive it.

Yes, what would you like to do with the display is important question here. Are we talking about connecting it to PC or some other device ? Do you have some programming experience and willing to write your own software here.

I'm sure it can be used but if this display is good choice for your needs I don't know. Like coorz said it will need some additional hardware to drive it in most cases.

I'd just be hooking it up to the PC. My only programming skills are in VB and that is very limited. It looks as tho I should keep my $20 in my pocket and pass on the LCD.
I do make my own printed circuit boards for various projects (mostly LCD interface and support circuitry). But programming a driver would probably be a bit rough for me.

Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it! :)
