Post subject:  How to use the reset pin of T6963c based lcd correctly?

Hi Everybody
How do I use the reset pin of T6963c based lcd correctly?
Currently I just pass 5 volt voltage to the reset pin of T6963c lcd, is this ok?

Should I use microcontroller to control this pin? Should I set it low in the beginning, and pull it to high after certain time interval (the reset is active low)?

Everytime, after I power the lcd, there is some random pixels appearing on the lcd, and disappear quickly after I initialised the lcd, and clear the lcd text and graph. Is this due to I do not reset the T6963c properly?

Thanks

Kind Regards

Hello lcduser

http://www.nutchip.com/connect/reset_rcd.gif
if you follow the link you can see how the reset pin is usually connected. In difference to the picture you needn't connect D1, only R1 and C1.
If you make it like this the lcd has some time (until C1 is full) in reset before it begins to work. After this time you can be sure that you supplying voltage is stable.

Thanks Myscha
What size of capacitor should I use?

Thanks again

I always use one with 100nF and a resistor with 1k. The bigger the capacitor and/or the resistor are the longer it takes to load the capacitor.
