Post subject:  Help Please - Have i fryed my LCD ?

Hi guys !!

I was playing around with a CU20045SCPB-T23A display today.

I used the wirering schematics from vfdworld wich was as follows

function - LPT - LCD

Data7.........................9.........................1
Data6.........................8.........................2
Data5.........................7.........................3
Data4.........................6.........................4
Data3........................5.........................5
Data2.........................4.........................6
Data1.........................3.........................7
Data0........................2.........................8
WR.........................1.........................9
CS.........................16.......................10
None.........................none....................11
Busy.........................11.......................12
GND.........................molex black.........13
GND.........................molex black.........14
+5V.........................molex red............15
+5V.........................molex red............16

Additonally, in the lower right corner of the display is a white 3 pin connector called CN2

I connected it with power flolowing

pin ---- function
1.................+5V (molex red)
2.................none
3..................GND (molex black)

Well... thats how i connected it and the display says..... nothing. It stays totally black.

on the good hand side the externel case does not switch itself off, so i guess there is no short circuit.

Any idea what i am doing wrong ?

Help is much apreciated.

best regards

tec

No need to connect pin 13, 14, 15 and 16 on the VFD to molex. It's all powered from CN2 connector.
To check if your display is ok;
- take off your datacable
- power it up on CN2
- on CN2 connector short pin2 to pin3 (GND)
that will put the VFD through testmode, if not, then it's likely to be defective.
If it's working then check your wiring or re-cable. Also check your LPT settings.

On the other hand it is NORMAL that nothing happens when you power it up. Only when you start and configure LCDinfo with T23A plugin AND make some screens . But when you shutdown LCDInfo you should get the 'goodbye' message on your VFD, that means your VFD is running fine.

Post subject:  Thanks

hi coorz !

thanks for the reply. it gives me hope for my display and wil lgive me the strength to go though the day at work lol

i will check it as you suggested.

i am guessing the pin 2 to pin 3 connection is only needed for the test run and not for the acutal using of the lcd with lcdinfo.

the lpt settings assuming you mean the ones in the bios) are a good idea as well, i didnt do that yet.

will post more tonight when i got a chance to fidle around with it. see you guys later

regards

well...

removed the connections and just had 5 v on pin 1 and gnd on pin 3. then short circuited pin 2 to pin 3 and still nada

Guess the display is now in better place.

wonder if i fried it or if it was already dead when i got it from the ebay reseller. the packing was very slim.

oh well...

now i have to wait anohter month before i can try to get my hands on another one.

see you then guys lol
