Post subject:  16 pin connector, need help.

Hello everybody - I'm new to LCDs and need a little help indetifying a connector from the cell phone to the display. I'm attaching a few pics. What I'm looking for is something to extend the connection so I can do some testing on the controller. This is from a Nokia 918+. There's not a lot of information (schematic or datasheet) for this product on the web.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Not an exact match, but these guys have made some boards for cell phone lcds with a similar connector. They might be able to tell you where they get them or a part number to get you pointed in the right direction:

Hope this helps a little. :D

Thanks One~Zero, you rock!. How did you find that so easily? I've been looking for three days; closest I got was a place in Germany.... Do you know what this part is called?

Thanks again.

The only reason I knew is because I had bought a couple of those displays with the boards off these guys from Ebay about a month or so ago. I'm not sure what type of connector this is, as I've never seen it before until I got those displays. You could try looking at Digikey or Mouser under SMD/SMT connectors or something. I'll see if I can find something more a little later.

.. I think. It seems to be a Hirose DF23. Now I need to assemble a connection for a flat cable.

Thanks again.

Your best bet is to try something like the link I listed earlier. If you can get the mating connector, just make a breadboard adapter with that connector on one side (to plug the lcd into) and something like a 16-pin straight header on the opposite side. It would be a lot easier to play with that way I think.
