Post subject: | Sony ACX705AKM Display + Controller Circuit |
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum so sorry if I posted in the wrong place. I really only joined up to tell you about this: There is a fairly new Sony LCD out called the ACX705AKM which is a 240x160 pixel, 512 colour TFT display with an LED backlight. It runs off of +3V and +3.8V DC lines and is selling for around US$20 at http://www.goldmine-elec.com (Electronic Goldmine). Anyway, you probably already know all that however there is a very good controller circuit published based on the Atmel AVR ATMega8515 and ATMega128 microcontrollers that is interesting. Since the display itself is a typically dumb unit that accepts HSync and VSync signals, this circuit is pretty handy for learning how to drive it and everything else It can be found at the Atmel AVR 2004 Design Contest web site (I forget the URL, sorry) and is Project No A3810. Anyway, it won the contest and I just thought that some people on this forum might be interested to know about it Hope this is usefull/interesting to you |

Post subject: | AVR Contest Entry A3810 |
Hi everyone. Entry A3810 is a very impressive project. Unfortunately, no PCB files are included with the project, just images of the front and back, making it difficult to reproduce the PCB. Does anyone know if the Gerber files are available somewhere? Better yet, does the author have any spare PCBs? jrseattle |

Quick update here. Since I received no replies on my question about PCB design/Gerber files, I decided to make a PCB myself. It came out really well and I have a working LCD now. See: http://www.dutchtronix.com/AVCX-LCD-Controller.htm After reviewing the original firmware from the project, I was able to increase the refresh rate by a factor or two. Does anyone have any suggestions re. getting good graphics at 8 or 9 bits RGB? Converting pictures to X4R4G4B4 format, then dropping the low bit doesn't work too well. jrseattle http://www.oscilloscopeclock.com |
