Hi all,

I'm new to the board, so be gentle!

I have a question for you knowledgable people, I have been toying with the idea of playing with displays (i'm an Embedded Software Engineer), and looking at kits available and other websites I settled on a mobile screen to begin with, for some simple experimentation and pratice.

A friend has one of these available cheap and so I was looking for a datasheet on this screen. I don't have the part number to hand, but I could supply it, if it is needed.

Also, I have heard a lot of nokia screens have built in controllers, would the datasheet tell me if this is the case? (Its a TFT colour screen).

Ok no response as yet, after reading the top sticky, ok.

I bought the display out of curiosity.

Research on the net has shown its a 208x208 TFT display with 65k colours.

However searching the net with the numbers presented on the back of the device on google and various datasheet sites have rendered nothing. The only number that produces a result is 4850837, which appears to be the nokia part number.

The manufacturers part number appears to be LS017B8UA01B, but with no results. Given this part number format can anyone suggest who the manufacturer may be?

It has a 24-pin connector, which makes me believe it may be a parrallel interface??? There is a chip attached to the feeding ribbon cable attached to the top, it has a rough top surface looking like 'black silcon' and there is no writing, it could be covered up, but given these are probably bespoke items I don't wish to damage it just yet.

Given I'm new to this, would the experts on here suggest that my initial assesment is correct?

Now there are 3 pins on the connector which have much more solder and 'appear' to be heavier duty, would you say that these are power supply?

If I were to attempt to diagnose the operation of the pins are there any tips someone could provide to which I could diagnose the operation of this display without destroying the screen?

VERY little chance it's parallel interface.
You MUST have it's datasheet to do anything useful with it.
