okay, I've got a module with standard pinouts, but I need to find a schematic that doe s not include the potentiometers for the backlight, as mine doesn't have one.Any pointers? |

Uhm if you have no backlight you can omit the pot wiring, the rest stays the same. |

By the looks of things I still need the pot between pin3 and GND, correct? What is this for, contrast? |

Yes, though i have no idea what schematic you're talking about, pin 3 on most schemes is the contrast control, you will need that. |
