Could I use a CCFL inverter from maplins: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod ... ER&doy=3m3 for a EL backlight on my Data Vision DG-24128-06 240x128 LCD: http://www.datavision.com.tw/english/index.html Does the Voltage and frequency matter much? (could I get away with it?) |

No, CCFL (for Cold Cathode Fluorescent tubes) inverters cannot drive EL sheets. You need a mini-inverter for EL, like the kind included with the EL tape from the PC modding scene. |

thanks for the quick reply. that sounds about right. CCFL inverter for CCFL and EL inverter for EL But would I be able to mod this inverter to give the correct voltage and freq i need? OR is there a chip I can buy from say maplins to invert the DC+12v to about 300v AC? |

I think those modding mini-inverters will do. You can buy mini-inverters seperately but i have no clue where in the UK. It looks like this here http://www.apollodisplays.com/pdf_e/inv ... ns-inv.pdf |
