Post subject:  Help w/ Nanox NFM243 LCD display & connecting to PC

I got the Nanox NFM 243 LCD from a sampler.

It has 4 Sanyo LC7940 4D2 chips on it. From what I have read these are the display driver chips and not the actual controller chips, so I assume that somehow I will need a display controller???

Anyway, you can see pics along with the pdf data sheet here:

I think from the data sheet I can wire it to a parallel port, but would a controller go inbetween this and the para. port or what? What controller would I need & where would I get it?

I am completely new to this and have only ever worked w/a simple 2-line VFD serial display (and by working with I mean installed it to the PC case, plugged the serial cable into the serial port, and programmed it using LCDSmartie).

Any helps & tips I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks,

Brain21

This one can't go on LPT just like that, it indeed requires a controller. From the datasheet i can see it's 1-bit so perhaps the LC7981 or HD61830 controller can do the trick.
Member One~Zero has built a LC7981 board, contact him, but i can't guarantee it'll work.

Hey!! What do you mean by that???
Yep, LC7981 controller. I'll have to see if I got any left, been using my prototype one for some time.
