Hi, I had a perfectly working nortiake 311 display on my HTPC. I bought an HDTV wonder to install on my HTPC. After installing everything, I forgot to plug the power to the 311 before running lcdinfo. Now the display is just blank. I read somewhere that you must never send signals to the data input without the power. Can I still fix my 311? I checked my fuse and it is stil intact,, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Happened to me too when I was trying to figure out how to control an unknown VFD. Accidentially disconnected the 5V wire while testing and the controller chip was fried. |

If you power it up can you still see the filaments glow slightly? If not get out your multimeter and check the fuse. If it's blown you can either replace it or short it (at own risk). |

DOes it really glow with just the power? It's hard to tell during the day. I tried grounding pin 2 and it still wont work. I check the continuity of the fuse and is stlill intact. In my case, if the controller is fried when you forget the 5V power, replacing the controller chip wont be easy. Is there even a way to troubleshoot this thing using the multimeter. Well if the controller is fried just buy a new 311, they are relatively cheap (if you're in the USA). |

The fuse should hopefully save the display, get a multimeter and check the fuse, if broken replace it or short it at own risk. |

Maybe I misunderstood the question.....I thought Wolverex was just asking if he COULD attach 12v to the display and run it

That'd be a strange question indeed! It sounds like 'i dunno what happened but the VFD doesn't work, maybe i connected 12v instead of 5v, but i'm not sure' |
