Hi,

I've got a DMF-5002 from Ebay and reading the datasheet about backlight I found that this display has the "EL" backlight system through an unknown (to me) NEL-D32-49.
I googled for that component but I didn't find any datasheet or specification to help me to recognize that component.
Is there someone here who can help me with that component? Is there an equivalent component that I can use to replace the NEL-D32-49?

Thank you, regards.

Bob

Bob,

Most EL inverters output the same voltage, unlike the CCFL inverters. You don't have to necessarily use the one that is listed in the datasheet. If you go to AllElectronics and search for EL inverters, they have one that is designed for the EL rope (can't remember the exact part number right now). This should handle your backlight without problems.
Another source is Electronics Goldmine, but it seems they are currently sold out of the inverter.
Of course, they is always Ebay too. Do a search for EL inverter on there and you can find some pretty cheap that should do the job nicely.

Hi One~Zero,

thanks for your advice, I will search for EL on Ebay as soon as it will be up again (it seems Ebay has some problem lately).

Regards,

Bob

I found some EL inverters but with different output voltage, so what's the right voltage to feed the EL backlight of this display? 110 VAC? Does the output voltage frequency (mentioned in some ebay announcement) matter?

Thank you, regards.
