Hi, I have a DMF-5002 equipped with the T6963C. The problem is that when I connect data lines to the LPT port, it gets hot. I tried to set the LPT port mode to EPP since I have to get data from the T6963 while reading its "status register". The connection wiring is the following: W/R ---> pin 1 LPT CE ---> pin 14 LPT C/D ---> pin 16 LPT RD ---> pin 17 LPT D0-D7 ---> pin 2 to 9 LPT To drive it I developed a small program that reads the status register. If I connect the data lines to the LPT I always read "0" from the LPT port, but if I disconnect data lines and I measure with a multimeter the D0-D7 of the T6963C I can read the status register so the driving of the control lines (WR,CE,CD,RD) is correct and T6963C gives data. The wiring is correct since I checked it a lot of times. So my question is: why if the LPT is configured as EPP, it seems that data lines of T6963C are forced to "0" as if it was set as monodirectional? (and so it gets hot). The LPT works correctly since I tried it with my printer (bidirectional). Regards, Bob |

I found the problem. There is a bit, bit 5, of the control register of the LPT that is reserved but it enables the bi-directionality of the LPT port that remains set until the pc is turned off. When I set that bit to "1", I was able to finally read the status register of the T6963C. I hope this is useful for everybody (if nobody knew that). Regards, Bob |
