Hi all, I'm having a tough time finding a small LCD that is capable of everything that I want. Rather than continue wandering I figured I would ask people who might have already come across such a display:

- able to be controlled by PIC microcontroller, C programming
- able to display images at 30 frames per second
- inexpensive ($20-$40)
- available in quantity from manufacturer (rather than cracking open existing hardware)

any help would be great. thanks.

I forgot to mention: COLOR. it would be nice, but actually isn't required for my particular application (greyscale video).

the Nokia displays sounded good until I read that people were only getting 5-8 fps.

What type of resolution are you look for? And, is there any particular color you are looking for (for a gray-scale, ie. green, blue....)?

Hi, thanks for your response.

at the smallest, 128 x 128. something square. but I've also been looking at some that are as high as 320 x 240, which I liked because it is more compatible with video output standards...though more expensive ($60-70). As far as color, I would want it to be true grayscale.. meaning black and white... but like you say, all I've really been seeing is yellow, blue, green... so maybe monochrome isn't the way to go.

You can usually get the 320x240's, controllerless, for under $20 on Ebay easily. With controllers, maybe $30-$40. There are some that are black and white to give you true gray-scale. The hitachi SP14Q002's (usually can be found on Ebay) are one for example. But, it all depends on the controller too. Some support gray-scale, some do not.

Hey, thanks for the info. There are a bunch of those SP14Q002 on ebay, but I'm not crazy about the green/blue back light. I guess I'll have to keep on checking until the right one pops up. I noticed that finding individual controllers is a pain in the ass as well.

I'll see if I have any black/white's around. I'm sure I've got something.
