Hi, I need to power an LCD, but 12 volts is too much, i need to power it with maximum 7 volts. here is the lcd i need to power: http://www.lcdtft.com/Detail.asp?Produc ... 175_LCD18L Like the ipod, they power the ipod lcd with less than 12 volts. Thanks to anyone who helps me! |

Power Source 12VDC@70mA I believe this means 12V DC at 70mA miliAmperes so its 12V at least is what is written at the ling you gave if you want 7V I think there is a way to get them, see the MOLEX plugs at the computer power supply and connect at the 12v and the 5v yellow and red wires, this will give you 7V or -7V im not sure about if it is positive or negative, try it out with a voltimeter |

I don't want to connect it to my computer, I want to conect it to a battery (possibly lithium polimers battery), so it's about 7 volts. But i guess how do the lcds of devices like cameras, portable media centers, ipods, get the power from a so small battery, if you think about it, a camera uses only 2 AAA batteryes, so it's 3 volts. So why this lcd needs so much power? Can someone suggest me a low power lcd, please? thanks a lot to everybody! |

ok, maybe i found something: http://www.robot-italy.com/product_info ... cts_id/530 can I use this to power the lcd using a 7.4volts lithium polimers battery? PS: the link is to an Italian web site, you can translate it by using goolge. |

I reply to him in italian: se la corrente che assorbe il display è inferiore a 1 Ampere, puoi usare uno stabilizzatore mA7805 e sul terminale GND colleghi un diodo zener da 3 Volt. In questo modo puoi ottenere in uscita circa 8 Volt (considera che avrai una piccola perdita di tensione con il carico attaccato). Non è come un regolatore switching ma con pochi componenti puoi avere uno stabilizzatore di tensione. Giocando con il valore del diodo zener puoi ottenere in uscita diversi valori di tensione. I find the switching one easier, but not cheaper. Anyway I think I'll use it. Thanks for your help, Roberto. |
