Post subject:  n00b looking for a VFD

I'm building a new HTPC and I'm wanting to put a VFD in it. However, I'm having some difficulty in locating a VFD for purchase. I have capable soldering skills and can follow a pin-out diagram so a DIY kit isn't out of the question. I came across Noritake in a Google search but they have no information as to how to purchase their displays. Here's some things I need to know

What is a reccomended model?
Where can I purchase one?
Which size will fit a single 5 1/4" bay faceplate?
Do I want Serial or Parallel or even USB?
Can I use it as a spectrum Analyzer?

I'm new to modifying LCD/VFD displays but as I said I'm competent with electronics in general. Thank you for your help.

You should probably look for a display that your HTPC software supports. Unless you're willing to write your own software.
