Hey ya'll... in my recent attempt to clean up my apartment... I dug up a "Futaba Corp. Of America" US16SY11AB 16x1 VFD display. According to the datasheet (found here: http://www.datasheet4u.com/html/U/S/1/U ... A.pdf.html)... it has a synchronous serial connection (SCLK/DATA). It runs off of +5V... so powering it is not an issue... but I'm curious to find out how one would rig this to the computer. Ideas?

Hello,
take a look at the post called "interfacing a Sony-Ericsson t68 LCD". I posted a HW I/F and some sample code. The T68 LCD uses an I2C protocol, but it is implemented enterely in SW, so the HW I/F is valid for you. You will only have to change the program for the protocol and commands of your LCD.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I forgot thet your LCD runs from 5V supply.
You will have to adjust the regulator for that voltage, but the idea is still valid.

Regards.
