Hi everyone.
I have an old LCD set-up that has 3 parts. The screen, what looks like a controller(HD61830B00), and a third small card that has 2 white wires that connects to the end of the screen.

Can anyone tell me what the small card does? Any other help getting this display running would be great.
Thanks

Looks like its the supply for the back light that does not work. Can I use a bank of leds to replace it?

Yes that "small card with 2 white wires connecting to the screen" sounds like a CCFL inverter. And also looks like it now that I checked the picture.

If you can fit LEDs in place of the CCFL tube then you should be able to make at least some kind backlight with them.

You should be able to figure out the pinouts of the controller board with the help of the HD61830 datasheet.

Yes I have the datasheet for the controller. All the lines from the lcd should go to the controller plus three lines that would go to a voltage source for the contrast controll?
