Hello, I have a few nokia 6510 LCDs in a drawer and I recently decided to do something with them. I cannot however find any information about a controller used in this type of display. I know that a similar phone (actually the only difference besides a firmware is the LCD:)) - nokia 8310 uses OM6211 controller. The pinout on the motherboard is the same for 6510 and 8310 (the same motherboard actually) so I guess I would not have problem connecting it to a micro-controller, but I have no idea what commands should be sent:/ (that would be my first project involving LCD) Have anybody done anything with this type of display? Any information/schematic/piece of code highly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Micheal |

http://sandiding.tripod.com/n8310.html I have an 8310 also with the OM6211 controller, but it's operating via the PCD8544 command set. |

Hmm ok so as far as I understand driver in 6510 is also compatible with PCD8544? |

What I meant is that you can't be sure the controller within the display is infact the OM6211. The link I provided claims said display contains the OM6211 when infact it contains a PCD8544 or compatible. OM6211 commands are not compatible with the PCD8544. Why don't you try both? |

A bit belated I know but I feel some words of correction are required here in this thread. I believe the 6510 LCD cannot be considered to have the same controller as the 8310. The PCD8544 and OM6211 are 84 x 48 pixel controllers. The 8310 has a 84 x 48 pixel LCD but the 6510 has a 96 x 65 pixel LCD so a single PCD8544 could not drive a 6510 LCD. My LCDs only have a single block controller mounted on them so it cannot be one of those mentioned. The pin outs of the two LCDS have the same pins and order although you would need to check the direction is the same. I suspect the controller will be a Philips/NXP device of the same family as PCD8544. A check of NXP current and discontinued devices revealled the following possibles. PCF8814 65 x 96 (It has been stated by a blogger this is the one. - Not verified) OM6208 65 x 96 (This has 4 level Grey Scale capabilities so less likely) OM6206 65 x 102 OM6218 68 x 96 OM6219 68 x 96 PCF8535 65 x 133 PCF8548 65 x 102 PCF8811 80 x 128 PCF8813 67+1 x 102 PCF8820 67 x 101 (4 Level Grey-scale) |
