the blue connection has 10 pins on it and on the PC pin 1 and pin 10 are numbered, the EL Light sits behind where the LCD meets the PCB
Just though I'd post these incase they'd be of some help..

Just so you are aware, the HD61200/HD61203 are row and common drivers, not the actual controller for the LCD. If it's only got 10 pins, it's quite possible that this used the HD61830 controller (which would have been in there with the LCD....possibly on a seperate board? ). The HD61830's have been replace with the LC7981, which is the same controller, just newer. I haven't seen anybody sell these controllers already made, but I have played with them and have made a few prototypes in the past. Not saying this is what drives your display, but it seems highly probable. Will see if I can dig something up on the net, otherwise you would have to start tracing connections back to the connector.

I just realized i dont have a mini usb connector here for my pics :( i will have them by saturday but heres a list of every pic on the PCB:
HD61200 (6x)
HD61203(2x)
2902 JRC 973 (1x) ??
74HC163A(3x)
i don't mind doing traces because ihave the pin outs to the HD61200 and HD61203, it's just that those wires are under the glass ;/ i just don't like fucking around with the rubber pads because once you unalign them its sometimes a pain to get them back perfectly
