Post subject:  backlight current question for QVGA lcd

Hi everyone here in New year....

i would like to ask very noob like query for a QVGA type lcd..
I have one of such a LCD make samsung, its datasheet describes that its backlight LED's current capacity is 15mA nominal and 20 mA maximum..
I am driving its backlight with 8mA by using 12 volt supply in series with 50 ohm series resistor ,, my question is:
Does it make any worse effect to the LCD operation by driving it with 8 mA supply backlight which is lesser than 15mA (its nominal rating) ?

Thanks and regards!!!

Using lower current that what is specified shouldn't damage it. In fact it should give the white LEDs longer lifetime.

Thanx for the quick reply...

It means, using lower current does not cuase any malfunctioning of LCD e.g. image can not displayed on the LCD screen.
right??

Regard!!!
