Do you have a bare Datavision KS0108 display or do you have the complete Compsys serial module like in the picture ?

The first thing to do is to check the exact model number of the display. It is often printed somewhere on the PCB or there might be a sticker with the model number.

If you put the model number in google you can probably find a datasheet and there you can find the pinout and other needed information. Without more information about your lcd there's not much advice I can give you.

I have two of the same displays. Have to admit I'm
completely new to LCDs but I'd like to get them up and going.

Can you post the results from your experience with
the display and any schematics used? I'm a little
wary of just dripping solder on this thing until I'm sure
what the pinout looks like.

I've also looked at Henri's post here
http://forum.lcdinfo.com/viewtopic.php?t=13&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
for a Crystalfontz unit, looks similar... but is it the same?
