Sometimes it can be difficult to find the correct schematic from all these topics so here I'm collecting links to usable schematics. Others are welcome to post here too. Here's the one i use for the SED133x controller; http://liquid-mp3.schijf.org/schematics/G321D_Pollin_wiring.gif Known to work with LCDInfo, LiquidMP3, LCDStudio and LCDHype, (check/change pin settings where needed ofcourse). |

Here's the wiring scheme for the Noritake GU256x64-372. Apparantly also suitable for the 352 and 340. As the 372 driver also works with these models. Code: Printer Port VFD
1 STROBE 17 /WR 2 DATA BIT 0 15 D0 3 DATA BIT 1 13 D1 4 DATA BIT 2 11 D2 5 DATA BIT 3 9 D3 6 DATA BIT 4 7 D4 7 DATA BIT 5 5 D5 8 DATA BIT 6 3 D6 9 DATA BIT 7 1 D7 10-13 Not Used - 14 AUTOFEED 21 /RD 15 Not Used - 16 INIT - 17 SELECT 19 C/D 18-25 GROUND 2,4,6,...,24 (GND), and 23 (/CS) Have fun! |

Here's the wiring scheme for the Noritake GU128x32-311. Note this is a custom model and not the 311 series you can find on the Noritake website. edit: Here's a connection parts list based on Futurlec stuff, only thing missing is the female Molex. Also the 20way connector and 3pin power connector won't fit the headers without some (little) cutting. IDCC20 - 20 Contact IDC Socket Connector DSUBSCM25 - 25 Contact Male Solder Cup Connector DSUBCH25 - 25 Pin Connector Hood POLHDCON3 - 3 Pin .100" Polarized Header Connector PLHDPIN - Crimp Pin for Header Connector GRCABLE20 - Grey Ribbon Cable - 20 core So do it the right way and it looks like this |

I'm new to this and probably should've picked a standard LCD, but I need to clearify a few ?'s. What are the pin Pin 10 (busy) where does this go to on the parallel and Pin 12 (frp) same question. Also can I use a standard 34 pin floppy connector --> Parallel connector. |

Why afraid of the VFD, they're actually easier to wire than LCD's! Pin 10 & 12 are not connected, so that saves you some soldering . You need a 20-way header or hack up that 34-way floppy connector. Also i noticed standard IDC form connectors won't fit the shrouded header; the short sides of the plastic shroud need to be cut off (carefully). |

I have this display. Ive tried to initiate the self test by grounding pin 2 of the power connector. Im getting no display when I do this. Im applying +5v to pin 1 and ground to pin 3. For the self test I shouldnt have to connect anything to the 20 pin connector, but I'm not 100% sure about pins 13 through 18 as they are voltage and return paths. Any ideas? |
