Post subject:  Help with Noritake 256x64 -352

I have a Noritake gu256x64-352, looking at the noritake datasheets the pinouts for the parallel 3xx series look the same (same to 800 series as well). Anyways I wiried it up and used the 372 driver but nothing is ever shows up. With the 800 driver I get garbage on the screen.

Anything I should try to get this display working?

EDIT: I used the wiring diagram from liquid-mp3 for the 800 series vfd

Did you have the pins setup correctly in the 372 driver dialog ? I don't know if 352 is compatible with 372 though.

You don't happen to have any data on the display ?

Near the connector there should be the controller chip, what kind markings does it have ? You could check the texts on all bigger chips you can find on it.

Although not 100% sure, I'm very confident that I have the wiring correct.

The 352 has the 26 pin connector just like the 372. So I'm pretty sure its the same, it also has ground pins for the even numbers from 2 to 24 like the 372 (verified with a multimeter).

I've also checked the pin setup in lcdinfo and they're right, I've played around with them as well but no luck.

The biggest IC is marked MB621468, on this page http://www.noritake-itron.com/subpages/ ... iukstk.htm it says "ASIC for Graphic VF Control. External RAM. BT Only" and lists an alternate part# 671416

I'm only getting a black screen, with the 800 driver I get a flicker, and with ver0.3.2 I get random garbage on the screen.

I've emailed noritake and hopefully they'll send me a complete datasheet on this vfd.

Maybe I'm not setting up LCDInfo properly? Is there a walkthrough to get it up and running?

Thanks for any help Henri

Your wiring should be fine I believe unless there's something in the connector that doesn't match with the other displays.

If it works with the 372 driver then getting something to the display shouldn't be very demanding. The steps needed with the untouched downloaded package are to just select the correct driver and setting the driver settings in the dialog. Then just restarting LCDInfo.

It's possible there is some difference between the displays that needs to be taken care by the driver.

I could be interested in one of these vfds and I sent you email about it.
