I don't think "KL SN102 94V0" includes any model number. 94V0 is just the PCB flammability rating if I remember correctly. KL SN102 might be just some other markings on the PCB. But if you know the manufacturer they might be able to identify the module based on these strings.

I have exactly same module.

20x4 character LCD, black surround.

I have tried the standard wiring for a hitachi HD44780, and works for the 26x2 module I have, but not for this one. :-(

the Backlight is the same pinouts, and has same number of pins ( 16 ).

seems these are not wired the same as a standard hitachi HD44780,LCD interface.

Ah , I think I have found something.

you need to check the main hitachi chip

the newer modules are hd44780 with a 'U' in the top corner this designates a standard contrast 0 to 5v.

and I have just found the 20x4 I have with the same markings as yours with the 'S' type in top corner. this designates 'minus 5v' for contrast.

will test this tomorrow.
