Post subject: | Need help with this LCD, hd61104 & hd61105 chips |
I have this screen, from an old Psion organiser: It has a HD61105A chip and 3x HD61104A chips. A length of flexi cable is connected to the back with 16 connections. I'd like to hook this up to a computer, but I have no clue of how to do it. I have worked with character based screens before and currently have a 4x40 screen on the parallel port. Any help you guys can offer would be great. Thanks |

Those seem like the driver chips. You would need a controller to drive it with PC. In the original equipment the controller might have been integrated in the main cpu. Also to know how to connect it with controller you would need to find out the pinout. |

I suspected as much, I've looked at the main board and there's nothing resembling a controler chip there, so I'd say that yes, it's intergtared into the CPU. I think that building a controler circuit for this may be beyond me though, but thanks for your help. |

Based on that pinout it could be a 2 x 4bit dual scan interface. And there are no controllers that are currently supported by parallel port softwares that would work with that kind display. If you start experimenting yourself and write your own software and find some controller IC and build a controller with it you might get it working. |
