Post subject:  t6963 with el backlighting

im using the t6963c controller and the dmf15040n graphic display. this display has el backlighting. i have the el supply connected to +5 volts and el gnd to gnd but the backlight doesnt seem to light also when i apply power to the display it doesnt show any kind of initial screen before being turned on, to indicate that the display works but is not initialized. most lcd screens show a couple rows of pixels but is blinked off until the display is initialized.
does any have any sugesstion about how this display works.

You didn't mention if you have EL inverter connected to the +5v or just +5v connected to the backlight pins. EL sheets require voltage in the range of 110V and maybe 500Hz to work like they are supposed. EL inverter makes this voltage.

Graphical lcd's don't usually have any test screens so they are blank until something is written to them.
