Hi

I have this old "computer" with an LCD screen.
Image

It's a Compaq Portable III

Display: 10" gas plasma screen
640 X 400 resolution
80 X 25 text

I was wondering if there is any chance to use this LCD ? I don't have any other info yet.

There is 2 connector on it. One 20 pins (data) and one with 4 wire (power + ground)

Thanks for help

Edit: I opened the Computer and found the LCD info:
It's made by Matsushita Model MD400F640PD5

There is a chip on it that look like a Texas Instrument chip J736DJ83P and an otherSN751521AFT

Overal model number M400F640BDT02

If the display is working it would probably be possible to use it. But more information about it would be needed. Manufacturer datasheet would be best.

It's made by Matsushita. All the information that I could found on the lcd was posted in my previous post. Searching on the web bring me few people looking for the datasheet to, but nothing was found. :(

I ty to find a new LCD to replace my dead KS0108. LCD at good price look to be very hard to find

Please do not destroy that computer. You can get LCDs anywhere, but you don't come across computers like that anymore. Keep it safe, don't destroy it.

Hello. I have one too.
One of my friends was trowing it away after destructing the entire computer :?
I stopped him just in time. He ensured me the LCD still works.
I need information about the imput voltages marked as +HV, -HV, -LVCC. I suppose the +HV might be +220V or +125V, but I am not bold enough to try connecting it. I can see on the board a 250V elettrolithic capacitors (is this the right spelling?) so I think it should work at high voltage. Maybe Vrick can see if there is anything written on yhe connection cable, or might follow it until it reaches the power supply. I really need this information.

I want to interface it with a 286 computer do you think it is possible?
I'm greatly interested in how, because this screen matches exactly the usage I needed it to.
Please help me.
