Hey this is my first post, and i'm about to get an LCD

i found this one
http://www.futurlec.com/LED/LCD128X64.shtml

and i dont understand how to power it, do i only use +5volts? or is there some negative voltage that everyone is talking about that i'm missing ?

dit you use a corect pinout to your LPT port?

like: http://www.fractronics.com/koppling_ks0108.gif
I used tis one for the smae controler / screensize. only my screen has EL backlight. and this picture uses a LED. but that should not be a problem.

What doe jou see on your screen. things like all random pixels going on and of. or all pixels on. last case: your wirrering is allwrite and the LCD is ready to recive signals from the LPT poort.

1 case ( the random pixels) jour wirering is wrong. I had it a lot but after a lot of trail and error it worked.

good luck

Yes looks like you need a negative voltage to the Vo pin. I think -5v could be close to the correct value. Without further specs you can only try what the correct negative voltage needed is.

I suppose it would work. Not familiar with that circuit but any circuit that gives the negative voltage should work.
I have used the 7660 / 7662 IC's before and the circuit using them is very simple.

Datasheet can be found from here: http://www.intersil.com/data/fn/fn3072.pdf

On page 6 there is a basic circuit in figure 13A. So you need the 7660 IC and two 10uF capacitors, pretty simple.
