Post subject:  Transflective Color LCD

I am looking for a decent size transflective/reflective color LCD. It's got to be visible in sunlight so no transmissives. I need a reasonable price and surplus is fine. All I have seen are PDA screens which are too small, I'd look for something at least 6 sq in. I'd be driving it with a PIC so I need something with a controller, not VGA or anything like that.

Is there anything out there on the market that I've missed?

Try E-bay, loads of color Q-VGA's and bigger floating around.

The problem here with your requirements is that I haven't seen any that large color lcds with integrated controllers.
But Epson for example has color lcd controller IC's that could be used. They usually have wider than 8 bit bus interface so PIC is not the optimal MCU to use but it should be possible.

What controller chips are there? I did look at one time and did not find much at all, but I am unfamiliar with what search terms to look for. I have a 40 pin PIC, a larger bus may not be a problem.

Here are some controllers from Epson: http://www.epson-electronics.de/cgi-bin ... yOid=-8467

Of those maybe S1D13706 for example could be used.
