Hello everyone.

I am new here, this is my first post.

I have a graphic LCD with the sanyo lc7942 and lc7940 ICs
on it, in the datasheets, it is recommended to use the
LC7981 controller for that one, I also found out from here
that the HD61830 controller is also suitable. The problem is
that even if these controllers are well known, I cannot find
them here in Greece.

Anybody has any suggestions about using another controller
with the lc7942 and lc7940 ICs?

Thanks a lot.

Ah so you have a LCD without an on-boad controller eh? That's not good. The only thing I can suggest is to keep looking, import the controller from another country or buy a new LCD with a controller on board. If you're interested I sell 240x128 LCD units (Yellow on Black) with the T6963C for pretty cheap. PM me if you are interested.

I guess you could find out who are Sanyo distributors in Greece / Europe / Anything else you can think of and try asking if they can supply LC7981. Also you can try same for Hitachi for the HD61830.

I am continuing this thread.

Can anyone send me here in Greece one of these two ICs?
I am searching for more that two years now with no success.
If anyone is afraid, I can send the money first.

Thanks.

There is a guy on ebay selling some cheap LCDs with LC7981, just search ebay for LC7981. They usually sell for 8 dollars in single quantities and 4 dollars each in quantities of 15.

Is it wise / cheaper to build your own LC/HD controller instead of buying an LCD which has it all onboard?

lo kostbill
you are lucky today i am clearing out old projects and find 2 x electrofont m6174nyu-ly and 1 x ipc 9412 serial/parallel controller.

electrofonts are amber 2x40 and contain
3xlc7940
1xlc7981
1xlc7942

no information with controller and could,nt get to function

if you wish to send self addressed jiffy bag you may have them free of charge.

also if interested i will email pictures of lcd,s and controller

i purchased four of these for £5 each about 2 years ago and never used them.
