Hi, I have a piece of equipment that uses an Optrex DMF5005N.

What has happened is that it looks as though the screen is made of 3 discrete paths (guru please confirm). The two outside parts are very very hard to read but you can still read them just. As if the brightness is too low.

The middle section has a dark line from top to bottom about 3-4 pixels wide but the rest of the middle section is totally off with no brightness.

After the unit has been on for a while the outside completely fades out. Checking with a meter and I get +5V on pin 3 and -8V on pin 4.

Any thoughts? If you think I need a new one where can I get one, easily?

I am in Australia. Saw a couple on ebay over the last week that went off for US$5 but when I went to bid the guy wont ship international without prior approval and wont return emails.

Cheers
Peter

Try Amtex Electronics, however they aren't going to be as cheap as those ones on Ebay.

Thanks for that. I am in Sydney. Yes the EBAY ones were really cheap and they didnt go either. I couldnt get them because they wont ship them and I am in negotiation trying to get them here. Not easy.

I tried to PM with this but not sure if it worked...

I sent an email to sales@amtex.com.au and they have not responded yet.

I have managed to make contact with the US company that was auctioning on EBAY. (They got passed in). They said they have some left. They just had a single order for 50 but they had a few left over. They are closed now for Christmas. I will be around meadowbank tomorrow so we will see what happens.
