Hi

I just got an Epson graphical display off an internet auction. The model number is EG7504C-RS and it has 320x200 pixels. I have the data sheet, but it doesent tell anything about what controller it uses (if it has any), only pinout, function specifications and adressing. I tried to connect the display directly to the lpt port guided by a schematic for a simular display from Liquid-MP3 (http://liquid-mp3.schijf.org/schematics/Hyundai_HG25504.gif). It basically had the same ports, only in a different pattern, so i conneced it to fit the data sheet of my display. I also added a supply voltage of 3,3V and a LED voltage (display) of 2V as specified in the data sheet.

The problem is that nothing really happends when i connect it to the parallell port. I didnt know what controller to use so i tried a bounch of them, and a few different programs. At one point the backlight lit up, but i havent been able to reproduce the effect. I also tried to control the ports directly to match the display on/off control, but i didnt get it to work.

So my question is, what can i try now? I'm also not sure if pin 1 on the lcd cable starts from the top or the bottom, any suggestions here? I will gladly add some pictures or info from the data sheet if that could clear things up.

Help would be greatly appreciated! Sorry about the long post

Well you mention it has '11-18:DB0-DB7' that means it has a controller onboard, likely a SED 133x.
How about a pic of the backside and a link to the tech specsheet?
That Hyundai_HG25504 wiring scheme is not for the SED133x, so that would not work.

Hmm, sure about that ? That HG25504 wiring from Eelco looks very much like SED1330 to me.

 my mistake, i see now in the spec sheet it's a SED1330 alright.
So that scheme *should* work!

I recently saw some information that would suggest that this display would use the SED1590 controller.

But if you get the datasheet in digital form I'd be interested having a look.

Hi again,

I finally got the datasheet scanned, and uploaded it here. Sorry about the *.tif-format, but i didnt have the software to change it. If you have problems seeing all the files, i also zipped it for download here.

I will also get some pictures out in a few days. Thanks for helping :D

EPSON 320X200, B/W, LCD DISPLAYS MODEL EG7504C-RS
: LCD displays model EG7504C-RS with LED backlight and onboard Epson SED1590 controller.

Not much info about this controller:

The Seiko Epson SED1590 is a 181K dual port SRAM Segment Driver with an on-chip controller. The SED1330 is a CMOS Graphic LCD driver
