Hi! I have a 128*64 dots display from fordata I am using this wiring but when I connect everything an run lcdinfo or liquid-MP3, the display only shows like this *-*-*-*-*-*- where * is lit up pixels and the - are those who are dark. But if I run the testprogram for the Ks0108b controller and choose to wiew a picture it shows half the image to the right, with ALL the pixels.... Anyone know what it could be thats causing this? //CyB |

Sounds like noise in the Enable line for example. Check your wiring and possibly resolder some connections to make sure they are soldered properly. Also try differerent parallel port modes in BIOS of not already tried. I don't think your CS1 and CS2 lines are wrong. The wiring depends of the display used. Also in LCDInfo you can change the wiring in the software driver configuration without resoldering and you can also try the option for reversing the CS pin polarity. |

I changed the setting in bios as you said Henri, and it worked! But I have one more problem, the text/images get noisy and I wonder if this wiring can solve my problem.[/url] |

tried the wiring, worse than before. Anyone got an other solution? Cat it be my long cable, it´s about 140cm long, from an old discarded printer cable. |

It could be.. but the LPT port is actually meant to be able to transmit it's data alot further than that... If it's an old Printer cable... have you eathed the shield? Also, that second schematic should actually Improve the situation for longer cable lengths. Did you also check your wiring and solder joints as was suggested? Also Can I suggest you try it on a differant computer. My initial thoughts are that you LPT port is struggling to drive the outputs, it wouldn't happen to be a laptop would it? |

I made it work somehow... dunno what I did really but i resoldered some wires and plugged it in, and then it worked.. anyway the resistors didn´t help at all, the display just showed one half lit up an the other dark.. Thank you all who have helped me! //CyB |

Well that's rule no.1 when troubleshooting; CHECK, recheck and check your wiring, use a multimeter to be sure! |

Oh, and then go over and check again. Then ask a friend to check it for you... Well.. You get the idea.
