Hello,
My name is Jay. I am a student at Michigan State University. I have been thinking about some way to waste some time. After some browsing of hardware hacks, I came up with an idea for some Virtual Reality type sunglasses. From what I have been seeing, it shouldn't be too difficult and it would be something fun to have. The plan is to mount 2 small, cell phone sized LCD's in some obnoxiously large sun glasses. Here are my goals for the project:
-640x480ish resolution so the screens look crisp to the eye.
-RGB input or VGA out (still deciding) for use with a computer or game system.
-Hopefully a budget of $100 or less.
Right now I am still trying to decide on hardware. I have been looking for the best bang-for-the-buck LCD screen that is easy to program for. The Nokia 6100 LCD seems like a very common LCD used for projects like this, but I need something that supports a higher resolution and supports more colors (Idealy 65k colors) . My SE K750i has a really nice 1.5" TFT LCD that would work very well, but I can't find any documentation for it. I really like input when I work on projects, so if anyone has any suggestions on parts, design, whatever, I would be more than happy to hear your ideas.
I am a busy college student so I'll try to update as much as possible.
