Hi Henri,

I have been keeping a close eye on things here. I have a few things to ask/say:

1) Something is funny with this web site. The Index link at the top of the page leads to a blank screen (http://www.skippari.net/lcd/index.html), as does test prog (http://www.skippari.net/lcd/testprog.html).

2) How's the developement going. I have version 3.2, and the windows XP shutdown thing is a real pain. I keep forgetting to "End Process" the LCDinfo in task manager and the puter won't restart or shutdown.

3) Have you seen this (http://www.benchtest.com/gp_Temp5.html)? It's great. It gives you 4 extra temp sensors to use in MBM, and then display on LCDInfo. It's very easy and cheap to build (about $10). I use it to measure room temp, intake temp, cpu intake temp, and case temp. Infact I was horrified to find my case temp was about 30 degs when the room temp was 22 degs. I found the problem was a ditry intake fan filter. I fixed it and now my CPU tem has gone from 45 to about 41 degs. All thanks to this easy project and LCDInfo.

4) I see that PowerLCD v2 is due out soon, but they want about $20 for it. The demo version does not display on a LCD, which is silly because people will want to make sure it works on their LCD before they pay for it. And it needs MS .NET to work. A real pain and a massive d/l to install .NET

Development is in progress. I haven't yet been able to fix the problem completely but I've been planning to start from scratch with LCDInfo to rewrite the code and hopefully get rid of this problem.

I've noticed that gp_temp, great little thing.

I downloaded the demo version of PowerLCD v2 but haven't yet had time to install it.

Yes, I have seen that before. I looks quite good. But there are a few problems. Many motherboards do not have an SMBus header, and the thought of soldering directly to the southbridge pins on my MoBo kind of freaks me . Also the MAXIM ic is so tiny, and almost impossible to solder. Can you imagine trying to solder 16 pins on something not much bigger than a match head ? Not to mention the problem of trying to source the IC.

The thing I like about the game port thingy is it's cheap, easy, no risk of damaging the MoBo, and easy to get at. And almost any electronics store will have the parts you need. Sure it's not as nice as the SMBus project, and there is a little lag in the temperature sensors (hysteresis I think is the correct term), but who needs to know the exact temp to the millisecond anyway.

I made the gameport version and use LCDInfo to display various temps. I am thinking about trying water cooling. Not so much for overclocking, but rather to reduce noise as much as possible. The gameport sensors, MBM and LCDInfo would make the ideal monitoring system for such a setup (if only the windows XP shutdown bug was resolved ).

Hmm, it's been another 2 weeks again - wonder where all that time goes. But this will be solved in the next version unless I create it again.
