What circuit did you follow? Are you referring to something on the Sparkfun web page?

If you didn't use the 4MHz quartz crystal with the AVR microcontroller, there might be some problems with the clock set-up code in the example you used. I'm not familiar with the AVR product line, but the one's I am familiar with (PIC, MSP, ARM), part of the initialization code selects the clock source for the microcontroller CPU and peripherals. If you didn't have the crystal but the code expected it, there would be a problem...

And yes I used the 4mhz quartz crystal.

It turns out that the LCDs I ordered from Ebay have the Phlips chipset and so the code I used didn't work. Now I got it to work with an LCD I ordered from Sparkfun.

Hello can someone can give CCS code for LCD(NOKIA) for 18F4550.

the problem is that in the connexion given in HOBBYPIC some pins donsnt existe in the PIC18F4550 like RC5..
