Everybody seems to be writing Blinkenlights players now but I wasn't able to use any of them so I wrote my own for the Noritake vfd. I wrote this in about 20 minutes so you'll probably find many bugs and I've only tested it with the two movies included in the zip. If you find any bugs/problems you can report them here and I might do something for them. This is a command line tool again like the previous player so you run it something like this:

blinken animation.blm

Download the player here:
http://www.skippari.net/lcd/sekalaista/ ... lights.zip

You can find more movies here:
http://www.blinkenlights.de/

The player is made for Zotty's wiring that you can find here:

Edit:
I just found a bug and updated the program.

Post subject:  Blinkin is nice .. but how about full res animation.

Is there an app that will allow me to run full screen animation on the 800, 128x64.

Using the big fat parrallel pipe we should be able to do some really cool start-up anims.

Post subject:  Is there an animation library anywhere?

I have created a couple, and would love to see what others have done.

You could show everyone else an example and post yours.

If you don't have a place to host them just email them to me and I'll put them up.

I'd also love to see some animations.

Ok, you asked for it: http://www.skippari.net/lcd/sekalaista/ ... lights.zip

It doesn't look very good because it clears the lcd between every screen but maybe I could make a better version sometime.

i think in this case you should befoir read DATA, then write with XOR or AND operation.

it is bad that LCDs does not support this operations :( only : READ/WRITE

PS:maybe also it is possible to store all lcd data in PC ram, faster.. etc

Yes, this can be made better in many ways. Using some buffer in PC ram might be a good solution. If you want you could make some optimizations to the code. ;)

It is possible to use the XOR and AND with the buffer in PC ram and I've already used that in other programs with KS0108.
