Got some cheap 320xRGBx240 controllerless STN displays made by Kyocera. Added two 74hc590 logic chips, old reflashed EEPROM used for PC BIOS, and 20MHz PIC16F627. After a minor setback (some vital smoke escaped, thanks to Henry for helping here a bit), the result: ![]() ![]() In the first pic there's only one frame being fed from the EEPROM. In the second pic there are two frames being switched to create a crude form of intermediate shades. ![]() |

Few long evenings of reworking with the wiring. Controller and EEPROM writer side by side on the same board. ![]() |

I don't really have any schematics as I just stared some datasheets for a while and then wired everything up from that. But it's quite simple because the display itself has a voltage generation built in so I just had to take care of the clocks and displaydata. And the code is also pretty much nothing more than creating the clocks and counter to switch between frames. I'll post something when I have time to draw the schematics. ![]() |
