Can an LCD be wired/configured to show a left-to-right inversion of the normal images so that if looked at in a mirror, it would look normal?

Some LCD's do have inputs that allow reversing the image. See for example NEC NL6448BC20-08 and Sharp LQ64D343. These are both TFT displays but I remember also seeing monochrome displays with some reverse signal. Don't remember any specific models at the moment though.

One way could be to do the mirroring in software.

Depends of the situation what options there are and what works best.
