ok i have a module here. Not sure hte model of the serial bay, but the lcd is a phico d-0 94v-0 and has p110-2. I got it from college and it's out of an old server, but wasn't able to test it out and stuff.

the serial bay is really old so it requires that u plug into the old style motherboards serial port connector *eg it doesn't have a serial connector it's just like a floppy connector thing*

I'm not too interested in getting the serial bit to work more interested in soldering up a pcb to get the lcd display to work...


if any1 knows where i can get it done... that'd be cool!

*edit* btw, the serial bay has got 2 panasonic chips on it, with this model number TL PCF8574T TC3494.1 and it has 3 switches on it, made from digital and was made in 1996 *shrugs not sure if that'd help*

If it's a normal parallel display with this I2C backpack you might be able to remove the backpack and use it as normal parallel display.

would i be able to get the drawings for soldering up the panel? if any1 has the drawings... i would have NO idea how to find out what pin is what... *n00b at this sowwie*

I don't know what that "phico d-0 94v-0" tells but it's not the model number.

Based on your description I believe your display is a parallel display with a backpack but more information would be needed. Like the controller chip etc. Is it character or graphics display ?

Any other markings on the display or on the chips ?

it has p110-2 and 9647on the lcd

i have 2 of them and both of them have those 2 on em... but then i think there is a manufacture number on it.... one has 9647 and the other 9803

There is a chip on the lcd but it doesn't have anything on it...

it's a datavision that's all i know....

it might be a serial display as it only has 16 connectiosn to the lcd and it used to connect to the serial port of the old motherboards.... *shrugs*

The backpack is made by digital, has the two PCF8574T, and wat looks like a motorola chip F132 XAA752.

there are a few numbers that are common on both backpacks 50-23593-01 E01 and on a sticker -01 B01

But if it has 16 pins it might be a HD44780 compatible display.

PHICO are a PCB manufacturer and product assembler in Taiwan who build product for many brands. You will see their brand silk screened to the PCB rear of many different brands of LCD.

I have a Grand Pacific Optoelectronics (GPO) LCD with the PCB silk screen marking

PHICO D-0
0323 94V-0

The PHICO D-0 94V-0 number is common to a lot of different looking PCBs. So the particular part board design is likely to be in the 7 segment fonted number, 0323 in my case. I have not found a cross reference for these numbers and likely to only be available in-house.

I am fortunate that GPO specified further markings be on their build.

In fine black print, probably from an assembly line inkjet. I get the model details. The most telling is the marketing model number GPC162-556-NYPBELY

Data sheet for which says 16 x 2 line Character H44780 compatable (but always slightly different) w/ LED backlight.

i have two of these LCD displays myself, and would love to get some more info on them.

here's some info i found on the forums at extremeoverclocking.com - there're a couple of thumbnail images that show how to hook up a parallel LCD display to the printer (parallel) port on your PC.

like i said, i've got two of these things, so i guess i'll end up experimenting with one, and if i end up blowing it up... oh well.
