I've made a schematic for the Crystalfontz CFAG12864B-TMI-V that might be of some interrest to some of you;

Wiring is the same as Heri's original schematic, so all of his software should work.

Great, I'm sure it will be usefull. Your's even seem to have a proper reset generated. My schematic is just a minimal configuration needed and it doesn't have anything "extra" stuff included.

hey i still can't get any software to run on win2k. to test the software i have to boot in to win98. you guys say that it should work. i downloaded the DLPORTIO and installed it on win2k and it says that there is no driver running. when on 98 i just installed it and it recognised the driver. what an i doing wrong? =I

nope i tried reinstalling and still i get the same error. i am admin on my win2k PC what could be the problem? could it be another piece of software? i haven't installed another piece of HW on the parallel port. i use USB => anyhow i checked the connections. everything is connected with the solder in contact withe the points. i really dont want to re-solder the whole thing in fear that it would turn out like the contrast pin. 8O

You shouldn't need the extra parts. The parts in Zotty's schematic give a slight delay for the reset signal so that the controller is reset after voltage is applied (at least this is what I think they do).

Have you tried the other DLPortIO installer I mentioned here:

Yep, that's correct ;) When you turn on the display, the condensator (C1) needs a few ms to charge. These few ms's give to KS0108B more than enough time to do a proper reset.
You don't need C1 and R2, but if you use them, you'll have the assurance that your display is reset at power-on.

ok the different version of the dlportio drivers did work and now i can open the software. the only problem is that the LCD doesn't display anything. i will restart my PC and see if it will work with the LPT on normal mode.

With what software ? LCDInfo, Ks0108 test from the development forum, MarkusM's utilities or something else ?

hey i am back.

i finally found some spare time and money to build that circuit. now the LCD does not display anything. i think that it has something to do with the paralell port type settings in the BIOS. what should they be? EPP(1.7, 1.9), ECP, Bi-directional, normal. i have tried many of these and i cannot remember what i got. what would you reccomend i set it to? oh and i tried every LCD program that i have LCDinfo, ks0108 test(both the one from your site and the one that you sent me), GIF animation.

With my KS0108 code there is only writing to the parallel port so I don't think the parallel port mode should affect much (it's always possible though). I'm using ECP with my displays and haven't had any problems yet.

If the parallel port settings don't make any difference and you have the DLPortIO driver working I don't know what else than wiring could be the problem.

Now LiQuiD-MP3 has also KS0108 support if you wan't to try: http://zapour.student.utwente.nl/schijf ... ic.php?t=5

I'd like to know more about this serial splicer type thingy. (the one from Robotstore)

Does this work? or is it even possible?

This is in relation to my thread in the "LCD" Forum

Cheers.

I think you could get the serial converter from Robotstore working with some tinkering and programming. But I don't think that's suitable for interfacing LCD's to computer, especially graphical ones as the speed mentioned (9600bps) is very slow.
