I've aquired an LCD and am looking for board level pin-outs. The board has a ribbon connection and a place for a header to connect to it. It also has an SED1335 controller on it. On the board there are several peices of information. The silk screening says "Data Vision P141-14" One of the array controllers has a sticker on it with the following information:

32240-26
SNBLW-HCD

I was told that it is a LED backlight and it is blue in color. The spec sheets I've been able to find indicate that it's a DG-32240, but I cannot find anything on the pins for the board. I'd be grateful for anyone who can provide me a doc that shows what signals are on this board and where. Thanks..

The display looks a lot like this one http://www.eio.com/32240ap.htm. But thier site does not give the specifics I need.

Thanks for the links. How do I know if I have the built-in inverter on my LCD? Also, I've been unable to locate pin 1 for the ribbon connector. Is there a graphic somewhere showing that? I didn't see it specifically in the PDFs you pointed me to. Thanks.

Also, does anyone know what the SNBLW-HCD suffix means?

Hmm i just re-read the topic from LCDHype but it is not suited for your display.
Can you post a pic of the backside?
The PDF i linked to *should* be usable for your display; if you grab the SED1335 datasheet and a multimeter you can crosscheck a lot of the pins, if they're the same as in the PDF you can be reasonably sure it's the same pin-layout.
The suffix describes the LCD mode, color, backlight type and other details.

Thanks for the link. I've reviewed that one already. The link to the data vision dg32240 spec sheet talks about the base LCD, but does not address the ribbon connection from the controller. there are 24 pins of connectivity via this ribbon connection. I'm planning on using pins 10-13 to provide logic power and display power. The SED1335 controller is accessed via the ribbon connector.

Yes, I see it now
The 14 pin connector is for the displays without the SED controller built in. In looking at your pic, I would take Coorz's suggestion and meter them out. It looks like it may be quite easily done. Good luck. :D

ok so the PDF i linked is definately not usable.
So whip out the multimeter! That left hand 14 way header is *probably* the one you need.
And your backlight is LED (A/K), so get some small resistors or pot and try what gives the best lightning.

I think the 14 way header is for a display that has an external controller. But since this one has it on board, he might need to use the 24-pin flat connector. The pinout on the data sheet shows the signals as if it didn't have a controller on-board (i.e., XD0-XD3, Frame, Load, CP...). Looking at the picture, it seems that the 24-pin ribbon connector goes straight over to the SED1335, so it still may be fairly easy to figure out with the meter.

One~Zero you are correct, pin 14 is FRAME GROUND which corresponds to the pin layout on that HTML page. Assuming that page is correct it's a no brainer now to trace the complete pinout as Vee and Vo are referenced there.

Interesting... It appears that there is a DC/DC inverter on board. The SCI7654 and next to it is a quad op amp LM324D. I've got to believe that the board is taking care of the LCD drive power all built in. I just need to come up with power for the LED backlight. Anyone have some expertise in this who might be willing to point me in the right direction to figure this out? Thanks.

Feed it +5 volt through a pot, around 100R and see if that's enough to control the brightness to your liking.
